The Return of Laker Nation

The Los Angeles Lakers are the 2009 World Champions. Led by the Zen Master and the Black Mamba, this team descended into the deepest valleys only to work their way to the top of the world's highest peak. Despite some hiccups in the playoffs, there is no denying that the best team was victorious as the series drew to a close on Sunday night.

The Magic were worthy opponents. However, it just wasn't their time. Kobe Bryant has his fourth. Phil Jackson has his 10th. Both men have paid the price of admission into the respective discussions about the greatest to ever play or coach the game of basketball at the highest level.

And despite the idiocy of some of the folks down in Southern California, I can truly say that I have never been prouder to be a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Now let's see if we can hold the fort and dance with devil once again in 2010...

Like Phil said so eloquently: The journey is what's really important.

I saw this Laker emerge from a crushing defeat in 2008 to become the team that knocked off all comers in 2009.

Congratulations Laker Nation - we're back baby!
