My way or the highway...

Reports suggest that Obama and McCain are tied in the polls. Apparently both conventions gave their respective nominees a bump. And for some odd reason, VP nominee, Sarah Palin is playing well to the American public.

It still leaves me in utter disbelief when I hear reports of how this election is unfolding. One of McCain's head campaign guys recently said that this will be an election based on "biography, not issues." In other words, the American public will be forced to choose between a middle-aged Black man who worked as a community organizer and an over-the-hill White man whose service to this country is revered and seemingly unchallengeable on any front.

IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO SEE WHAT THE WORLD BECOMES IF, OR RATHER WHEN, OBAMA HAPPENS {is elected}

Sadly, the rest of the world fails to see clearly the dynamics of the American landscape. The candidate that they (and I) view as a beacon of hope for America and the global community is cast in a very different light domestically. While the Obama uber fanatics have been doing their best to spread the word - as I have been doing with this here blog - there remains a SIZEABLE chunk of America that is either vocally or silently opposed to putting Mr. Obama in the Oval Office.

This election is not a referendum on McCain. Nor Obama. Nor taxes. Nor a number of other "issues."

This election is a referendum on you, on me, and on the fundamental approach that America wants to take to re-branding itself and once again emerging as the preeminent superpower in the world. And I must note that this reemergence is far from a foregone conclusion...

And if we choose incorrectly...may God help us.
